The story began with a Thornycroft dismantled in 1936.... with its rear axles and gearbox fitted to a Leyland Badger. Why? Because this modification helped the now famous postman Tom Kruse to deliver mail to the farthest reaches of Australia for the next 25 years. It was pioneers like Tom, who had to rely on off-road vehicles that could stand up to the harsh Australian terrain, that opened the country's eyes. The legend Bill King of Australian Adventure Tours (AAT Kings), one of our first customers, set up shop in the back of the all-wheel drive Bedford he bought from us. Since 1960 our company has been learning from these pioneers - sometimes taking the hard way. While each vehicle has its strengths, they all have weaknesses that can bring them to a standstill, even in desolate places. We learnt what works well and how to make a vehicle stronger so that it can still drive safely through dangerous, yet beautiful landscapes. It all started with Bedfords and Leylands, and continued with LandCruisers and Patrols, right up to today's rapidly evolving off-road equipment market, which is now going its own pioneering way. Over the years, the knowledge we have shared with our customers has resulted in over 40,000 4WD parts. This is the culmination of 50 years of engineering, testing and manufacturing that have enabled us to create a new generation of products that are now available in other parts of the world.
